Budapest Day 2

We decided to start the day with a city bus tour that started in Hero's Square. The bus thing is a little cheesy, but the city is sprawled out, and they have god info on various buildings and what not. We were able to get on and off as much as we wanted, so we rode the bus up to Castle Hill, which is on the Buda side. The photo below of the massive building with the green dome and roofs is the Royal Palace, which never actually housed a monarch. We got out here to see Mathias Church and the Fisherman's Bastion. The church was closed for renovations, but the bastion provided great views of Pest and the Danube River. We had lunch up on the hill and decided to board the bus again and take a complete loop, about 2 hours, winding up back on the hill. There were many great stops along the way, including the Parliament, which you can see behind the picture of David. The panorama is a nice view of both Buda and Pest from the South. After walking around the Royal Palace, we headed back to Pest to go see a traveling exhibition on Princess Diana. Time for dinner then a stroll back to the hotel, in the rain, of course.
