Budapest

We arrived in Budapest not a minute too soon and headed straight for our hotel, which we booked online in Venice for a great rate. We checked in and went straight for the shower. Amazing how good you feel after a good shower. Time to explore. Our hotel is on the finest boulevard in Budapest, Andrassy utca. The entire street has been designated as a World Heritage Sight. We walked the 1.5 miles to the 'city center' part, which is right by the Danube River. The river splits the city in to 2 parts, Buda on the West and Pest on the East. We are on Pest. The city has been built and destroyed numerous times, with over 80% destroyed in WWII, so the buildings aren't that old, but they have been rebuilt to look similar. Very massive buildings. As the sun was setting, we strolled along the Danube, taking great pictures of the Buda side with the Chain Bridge and the Royal Palace on Castle Hill. The food is very meat intensive, but good.

  1. I have tried to write in comments, but after I click on post comments, they just disappear. Anyway, looks like you guys are having fun and are safe. The puppy is great. We may just keep him at Rock Creek Trail forever.
