Not much to say about a 6 hour train ride. There was a good bit of snow on the ground, and we passed through some dense forest with lots of evergreens. Oh yeah, the train almost caught on fire. We started smelling a terrible burning smell and then started seeing smoke. Everyone on the train was trying to figure out what was going on. Finally we saw the only train person working, and she was on the phone with someone trying to figure it out. The train stopped in the middle of the tracks, and she got off and walked up a few cars, where it looked like we had a brake that was locked up. Anyway, they fixed the issue, and we continued...smelling like burnt train.
We made it to Munich and checked in the hotel before heading out to the sights. It was very cold, but there was a good number of people out. We found a restaurant recommended by our book, which was another good choice. Had an interesting talk with a lady at our table about Bush being an alcoholic, but the food was really good. Later we visited the Hofbrauhaus, which is the most famous beer hall in the world. Supposedly it can hold 4500 people. The beer comes in 1 liter sized mugs. All in all, a good day.
